About Comprende Más

An open-access scientific journal that helps readers understand what can be done with research results.

Aims and scope

Comprende Más disseminates results of research, development, innovation and entrepreneurship (R&D&I&E) in the six OECD fields of science: natural sciences, engineering and technology, medical and health sciences, agricultural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Every article opens with a plain-language «Presentation» stating its OECD discipline, the Sustainable Development Goals it contributes to, its Technology and Commercial Readiness Levels (TRL/CRL), and what can be done with the results.

Article types: letters to the editor, research articles, opinion articles, academic event papers, case studies and clinical cases, and systematic reviews. Articles are published in Spanish with title, abstract and keywords in English.

Open access and licence

All content is freely and immediately available, with no registration required. Authors retain copyright and publish under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY) licence.

Peer review

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial check and similarity screening are evaluated by at least two external experts under a double-blind model. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on the reviewers' reports.

Similarity check

Every manuscript is screened with the similarity software provided by Crossref. 0–15%: proceeds; 16–20%: further verification; 21% or more: rejected.

Publication ethics

The journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Complaints and appeals: quejas-apelaciones@comprendemas.com. Research misconduct: malaconducta@comprendemas.com. Conflicts of interest: conflictodeinteres@comprendemas.com.

Research ethics

Studies involving humans or animals must be approved by a research ethics committee, named in the article with its approval code. Informed consent is required from participants, and any identifying data must be omitted. Clinical cases also require the patient's written consent.

Authorship and contributions

Authors are those who made a substantial contribution, took part in drafting or critically revising the work, approved the final version and are accountable for it. Contributions are stated using the CRediT taxonomy. Manuscripts by the editor, editorial team members or people related to them are handled by another editor with no conflict of interest, under the same double-blind review.

Use of artificial intelligence

Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors may use them for support tasks such as language editing or translation, and must state which tool they used and for what. Authors are responsible for all content, including citations. Reviewers must not upload manuscripts to AI tools, as this breaches confidentiality.

Research data

Authors are encouraged to deposit the data supporting their results in an open repository (institutional repository, Zenodo, Figshare) and cite it with a link or DOI. Every article includes a data availability statement.

Corrections and retractions

Corrections and retractions are published on this website, together with the outcome of the case. Authors may appeal an editorial decision within 72 hours; appeals and complaints are resolved within 90 calendar days.

Fees and waivers

Submission, review, reading and downloading are free. From 2026, an article processing charge (APC) of US$ 400 applies after acceptance; authors are notified by email. Authors may request a full or partial waiver, with a justification, on submission or on acceptance. The editorial team assesses each request and replies in writing. Waiver requests have no influence on the editorial decision.

Self-archiving and preservation

Authors may deposit the published version of their article in institutional or subject repositories, on personal websites or academic networks, citing the original publication and its DOI. Preprints and accepted manuscripts may be deposited at any time. Articles are preserved through the PKP Preservation Network (LOCKSS) and backed up on servers separate from the public site.
